This week has been insanely busy with the March/April issue of Smart just on the horizon.
However, this issue?s topic couldn?t come at a better time. Just as I?ve committed (well, recommited, actually) to increasing my health and fitness to lose weight for my wedding in October, the upcoming issue is dedicated to exactly that.
As an update on Wedding Weight Loss 2013 as I like to call it, I?ve bumped up my workouts to at least three a week. Tonight at Walmart it took everything in me to walk past the Ben & Jerry?s, but I did it and instead bought strawberries, bananas, tomatoes, pico de gallo for some healthy quesadillas for lunch and squash and zucchini for roasting tomorrow for dinner.
And, while working out at Planet Fitness this week, I actually ran half a mile. And if you know me, you know I don?t run. But I actually ran! And if I didn?t have the knees of a 75-year-old man, I think I actually could?ve kept going. Though I?m still waiting for the week when? doing crunches on my pilates ball doesn?t make me sore for three days ?
So slowly, but surely, I?m trying to make small changes.
My topic for this issue?s Accents pages are fitness items to get you motivated and moving. Here?s sneak peak of what?s to come in the next Smart magazine. All photos by Kate Penn.

Hopefully, these gadgets give you a great start to get moving. I know as the weather warms, I?ll be more motivated to get outside and take a walk. But while it?s still 20 degrees outside, this gear gives you a good alternative to some indoor workouts.
Also be sure to check out the Daily Record?s newest health initiative, our No Sweat, York blog.
?If you want to live a healthy life and pass on good habits to generations to come, No Sweat, York is for you. Here, we?ll share our community?s struggles and laud our accomplishments.
