3 cruise ship passengers taken to Hawaii hospital

Three elderly cruise ship passengers are being treated a Hilo hospital.

The Coast Guard hoisted the three passengers from the cruise ship Oosterdam 100 miles east of Hilo Tuesday. They were airlifted to Hilo Medical Center.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Anthony Soto says an 86-year-old man appeared to having a heart attack, an 82-year-old man had symptoms of internal bleeding and a 76-year-old woman complained of abdominal pains. Updates on their conditions were not available.

A Coast Guard flight surgeon made the decision to evacuate the elderly passengers after hearing about their conditions from the ship's medical staff.

After the medevac, the San Diego-bound Holland America Line cruise continued on its way to a stop in Ensenada, Mexico.
