PHILADELPHIA (CBS) ? A South Jersey support group for women held their 10th year anniversary celebration on Friday night and our very own news anchor Vince Hill was the keynote speaker.
Dozens of women dressed in sequin, ball gowns and colorful dresses walked in a line holding electric candles at Lucien?s Manor in South Jersey. The light they carried was just a small acknowledgement that each woman has survived breast cancer.
Dianne Hyman is a registered nurse at Cooper Institute and founder of Sister Will You Help Me, a breast cancer support group for women of color.
?There is no other minority support group. Women can come and see other women such as themselves and are able to encourage each other and pray for one another.?
Janis Hill, the wife of KYW anchor Vince Hill was supposed to speak at the event, but she lost her battle against breast cancer this past January. Vince attended on her behalf.
?I?m just trying to deliver the message that she was delivering. And I am just trying to keep her legacy going on.?
