Let India verify Israel's allegation in car blast: Iran
Iran on Wednesday refused to "accept" or "deny" its role in the bomb attack on an Israeli car in New Delhi [ Images ] but questioned the basis of the allegations, saying it should be left to India [ Images ] to verify the real position.
"We are not accepting or denying this (Israeli allegation about Tehran being behind the car bomb blast). I don't know how can we assume within short moment who has done this," Iranian Ambassador to India Mehdi Nabizadeh told the media in New Delhi. He was responding to allegations levelled by Israel that Iran was behind the magnetic bomb attack on its mission employee near prime minister's 7 Racecourse residence in New Delhi on Monday in which four persons including an Israeli diplomat were injured.
"It (incident) has happened in India. If Indian security said something like that (then) we have to verify.... This is false and they (Israel) always keep feeding such a thing," the ambassador said.

Asked about India's reaction to the allegations, Nabizadeh hoped New Delhi will come out with a "final reaction" after verifying the case. "We hope India will verify the case to know the real position. Till now, their (India's) final reaction has not come. We are wishing the reaction to come," Nabizadeh said.

Noting that bilateral ties between India and Iran was "good", Nabizadeh said "no third country" can put hurdle in the relationship. "It (the relationship with India) is good and it should be better. Iran and India have good relations.... Both governments would be collaborating with each other much better than before," he said.

China CIC says wary of European govt bond investments (Reuters)
BEIJING (Reuters) ? China Investment Corp (CIC) remains wary about investing in European government bonds despite a plea from Germany's chancellor, but will look for opportunities in infrastructure and real industrial projects, the head of the country's $410 billion sovereign wealth fund said on Monday.
European government bonds are not ideal for long-term investors like CIC, said Lou Jiwei, chairman of the fund.
"For European bonds like the government bonds of Italy and Spain, only central banks with certain responsibilities can invest. But it's more difficult for long-term investors like us to make (such) investments," Lou told the annual meeting of China Economists 50 Forum, a club of government officials and economists.
"Investment opportunities may lie in areas like infrastructure and industrial projects, and these projects can help economic recovery," he added.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel had asked CIC and other "long-term investors" to buy European government debt, including that of France and Germany, when she visited Beijing earlier this month, Lou said without elaborating.
CIC recently bought a minority stake in London water supplier Thames Water in an early sign that concerted efforts to drum up foreign investment in Britain's ailing economy may be paying dividends.
Europe will "inevitably fall into recession," Lou said, adding that the global economic recovery, including that of the United States, will be very slow process.
"In short, the global financial markets are highly uncertain with big downward risks, but there are still opportunities, and the world is in need of investments -- protectionism in international investment is declining," Lou said.

Dujardin said it was "incroyable" ? incredible ? to win a prize in the homeland of acting titan Laurence Olivier, William Webb Ellis ? the inventor of rugby ? "and Benny Hill."
Hazanavicius thanked presenter Brad Pitt for pronouncing his name correctly ? and academy voters for recognizing that his silent film even had a screenplay.
"So many people thought there was no script because there was no dialogue," he said.
Another homage to early cinema, Martin Scorsese's Parisian fantasy "Hugo," took prizes for sound and production design.
John le Carre adaptation "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" went into the ceremony with 11 nominations compared to 12 for "The Artist," but won just two prizes, for British film and for adapted screenplay.
Writer Peter Straughan dedicated the screenplay award to his wife and co-writer Bridget O'Connor, who died of cancer before the film was completed.
"She wrote all the good bits and I made this coffee," Straughan said. "So, Bridget ? I love you, I miss you. This is for you."
The British prizes, known as BAFTAs, are considered a strong indicator of likely success at Hollywood's Academy Awards, to be held on Feb. 26.
The trophies give more momentum to "The Artist," which has already won three Golden Globes, and has 10 Oscar nominations.
Dujardin, who plays a silent screen icon eclipsed by the talkies, said the appeal of "The Artist" lay in its accessibility.

Palestinian security forces question 2 journalists (AP)
RAMALLAH, West Bank ? Two Palestinian journalists said Wednesday they were detained and questioned by Palestinian security forces, one after mocking the Palestinian leadership and the other after reporting about alleged corruption at a Palestinian diplomatic mission.
The detentions came as renewed criticism was aimed at Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' government for suppressing dissent.
Rami Samara, an editor at the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, said plainclothes security agents took him from his office to Abbas' headquarters on Tuesday and held him for four hours. "They showed me about 100 pages of comments I made on Facebook, mostly criticizing the Palestinian Authority and the PLO," he said.
He said he was told he would be released if he signed a confession that he organized an anti-government demonstration on behalf of a small PLO faction critical of Abbas. Samara said he refused, but he was eventually released.
"Before this detention, I thought that we, the Palestinian people, enjoy wide freedom, but after what I saw, I think I'm being followed by the intelligence in every step of my life," he said.
Abbas' office did not respond to requests for comment.
In another case, journalist Yousef Shayeb, who writes for the Jordanian newspaper al-Ghad, said he was held for eight hours at a Palestinian intelligence office Tuesday. He said he was questioned about stories in which he alleged a Palestinian diplomatic mission abroad was riddled by corruption. Shayeb said interrogators demanded that he reveal his sources, which he said he refused to do.
Palestinian government spokesman Ghassan Khatib said Shayeb was being questioned in connection with libel allegations and that the security services were trying to determine whether to file charges against him.
